How to Transfer Music from a CD to an MP3 Player?

If you want to play songs from a CD on your Globluum MP3 player, you first need to rip the music from the CD into digital music files, such as MP3 files, and then transfer those files to the player.

In simple terms:

CD → Rip to MP3 → Find the music files → Transfer to Globluum → Play

📌 Which situation applies to you?

  • I have a CD but haven't ripped it yet → Go to Q1
  • I already have MP3 or other compatible music files → Go to Q3
  • I already transferred the music, but can't find it on the player → Go to Q4

Q1. Why Do I Need to Rip a CD?

Songs on a standard Audio CD are not stored as regular MP3 files. If you want to save CD songs as MP3 files and transfer them to your player, you first need to rip the CD using music software on your computer.

What you need:

  • A music CD
  • A computer with a CD/DVD drive, or an external USB CD/DVD drive
  • Music software that supports CD ripping
  • A Globluum MP3 player
  • A USB cable that supports data transfer

If your music is already saved on your computer as MP3 or another compatible digital music format, you can skip the ripping step and go directly to Q3.

Q2. How Do I Rip a CD to MP3?

🪟 Windows

For example, you can use Windows Media Player Legacy:

  1. Insert the audio CD into your computer's CD/DVD drive.
  2. Open Windows Media Player Legacy and select the music CD.
  3. Open Rip settings.
  4. Under Format, select MP3.
  5. Start ripping and wait for the process to finish.

🍎 Mac

On a Mac, you can use the Apple Music app:

  1. Insert the audio CD.
  2. Open Apple Music.
  3. Open the import settings.
  4. Under Import Using, select MP3 Encoder.
  5. Start importing the songs and wait for the process to finish.

Tip: Importing songs from an audio CD into your computer is the CD ripping process. The exact menu names and locations may vary depending on your version of Windows, macOS, or music software.

💡 What MP3 Bitrate Should I Choose?

We recommend setting the MP3 bitrate to 128–320 kbps for a good balance between audio quality and file size.

📁 Where Are the Ripped Music Files Saved?

Ripped music is usually saved in your computer's Music folder or in a location specified by your music software.

If you can't find the files, check the software's file or media settings, or search your computer for .mp3 files.

What If My Computer Can't Recognize the CD?

Check the following:

  • Make sure the CD is inserted correctly.
  • Check the CD/DVD drive and USB connection.
  • Make sure your computer recognizes the CD/DVD drive.

If the CD still cannot be read, try using another compatible CD/DVD drive.

⚠️ DRM and Copyright

This guide covers ripping music from physical CDs that you have the legal right to copy and use. Music from subscription services may be protected by DRM or other restrictions and may not be transferable to an MP3 player as a regular MP3 file.

Make sure you have the legal right to copy and use the music and comply with applicable copyright laws and service terms.

Q3. How Do I Transfer the Ripped Music to My Globluum Player?

After ripping the CD, you will have MP3 or other digital music files on your computer.

Connect your Globluum player to the computer using a USB cable that supports data transfer. If a USB connection mode appears on the player, select:

File Transfer / MTP

Then open the player's storage and copy the MP3 files to the player.

Tip: We recommend using a simple folder structure and avoiding deeply nested folders. If songs do not appear, try moving them to a higher-level folder and scanning the music library again.

After the transfer is complete, safely eject the player from your computer before disconnecting the USB cable.

Need Detailed File Transfer Instructions?

Q4. I Transferred the Music, but Can't Find It on the Player. What Should I Do?

First, identify the situation that best matches what you're experiencing:

  • The computer doesn't recognize the player → Check the USB cable and USB connection mode.
  • The music files cannot be found → Check whether the transfer was completed and whether the files were saved in the correct location.
  • The files are there, but don't appear in the music library → Restart the player or rescan the music library.
  • The files are visible but won't play → Check the music format and whether the files are corrupted.
  • The files play normally, but the song title or artist information is incorrect → Check the music file's metadata.

① Check the Music Format

Make sure the music file format is supported by your Globluum player. For CD ripping, MP3 is a practical choice because it offers broad compatibility while keeping file sizes relatively small.

② Check the Storage Location

Make sure the music files have been copied to storage that the player can access.

If you are using a microSD card, make sure it is inserted correctly and recognized by the player.

③ Restart the Player

If the files are already visible in the player's storage but do not appear in the music library, try restarting the player. This can allow the music app to scan the files again.

④ Check the Music File Information (Metadata)

If a song plays normally but the song title, artist, or album information is incorrect, the metadata in the music file may be incomplete or incorrect.

You can use music software on your computer to check or edit the metadata, then transfer the updated music file to the player again.

If you use HiBy Music and your songs still do not appear, see:
