Ignite Your Hormones: A Playlist That Pulled Me from “Couch Mode” to “Combat Mode”

To be honest, I rarely bother making playlists. But last weekend I realized I’d been looping the same 10 songs on repeat — every single one hit like a shot of adrenaline. So I finally threw them together and named it “Hormone Overdrive.” Here are the ten tracks:

  1. Lock Me Up – The Cab
  2. Sold Out – Hawk Nelson (feat. Jonathan Steingard)
  3. Whatever It Takes (Quarterhead Remix) – Imagine Dragons & Quarterhead
  4. Lordly (feat. Alex Aiono) [MDZN Remix] – Feder, Alex Aiono, MDZN
  5. Hate You – Poylow, BAUWZ (feat. Nito-Onna)
  6. Plain Jane (Mix Version) – GRABOT
  7. Best Friend (feat. Doja Cat) – Saweetie, Doja Cat
  8. ALL MY PEOPLE [EXTENDED VERSION] – Alexandra Stan & Manilla Maniacs
  9. Natural – Imagine Dragons
  10. Bones – Imagine Dragons

Today, I’m not trying to be cool. I’m going to break down these tracks and tell you exactly why they can light you up. Whether you’re heading to the gym, crushing a deadline, or just need to snap out of a slump — put on your headphones and hit play.

🎧 1. From “Trapped” to “All In”

First up: Lock Me Up – The Cab.
That intro hits, and I know immediately: this isn’t a song that begs. It says, “You can lock me up, but you can’t lock my voice.” Every time I hear it, I think of everyone who told me I couldn’t.

Then Sold Out – Hawk Nelson.
If you’ve ever been sick of compromise, this is your declaration. It doesn’t reason with you — it just floors the gas.

2. Whatever It Takes, and No Apologies

Whatever It Takes (Quarterhead Remix) – Imagine Dragons
The original is already fierce, but this remix pushes the electronic beat into another dimension. That chorus — “I do whatever it takes” — basically became my mantra. I scream it during the last rep of a squat set. My coach is used to it by now.

Then Lordly (MDZN Remix) – Feder, Alex Aiono
The title says it all: “Lordly.” Not arrogance — it’s knowing you deserve a seat at the table. Walk to this track, and you’ll unconsciously straighten your back.

🤘 3. Turning “Hate” Into Fuel, Bringing Friends to the Dance Floor

Hate You – Poylow & BAUWZ (feat. Nito-Onna)
Don’t let the title fool you. This isn’t a negative song. It’s the kind that crushes negativity, sets it on fire, and throws it into the engine. I usually put it on during my third set — exactly when my muscles start to burn.

Plain Jane – GRABOT
Pure rhythm. No fluff. When you need a “shut your brain off and just move” moment — this is it.

Best Friend (feat. Doja Cat) – Saweetie, Doja Cat
Here’s the twist: not all fire comes from anger. Going hard with your workout partner, your crew, or your girl hits different. This track will make you look at each other and grin.

🔥 4. From “Everybody” Back to “Myself”

ALL MY PEOPLE (EXTENDED VERSION) – Alexandra Stan & Manilla Maniacs
The extended version is what connoisseurs pick. It gives you a long, satisfying climb and drop. When that “All my people” chorus hits, you’re no longer working out alone — you feel like the whole room is burning with you.

Natural – Imagine Dragons
The lyrics get deeper here: “This is my kingdom, this is my crown.” This fire isn’t learned — it’s written in your bones. I play this right before the cooldown, to remind myself: you’re not becoming someone else. You’re just becoming the most real version of you.

Bones – Imagine Dragons
The closer.
“I got nothing to lose, I got nothing to prove.”
The workout is done. The sweat has dried. You don’t need to prove anything anymore. Burning was enough.

Why This Playlist?

Because some days you don’t want to “relax” — you want to crush.
Because some emotions you can’t talk out, but you can release.
Because there’s already fire inside you — sometimes you just need someone to pull the damper open.

This playlist is that pair of hands.

👉 My tips:

  • Listen from track 1 to 10 in order when you work out — no shuffle
  • Switch to track 4 before merging onto the highway
  • Can’t get out of bed in the morning? Go straight to track 8 at max volume

You’ll thank me later.

Now go burn.

🎯 How to Get the Best Experience from This Playlist?

You can search for “Hormone Overdrive” directly on Spotify, or manually add the 10 tracks (song titles + artist names) I listed above to create your own version.

But I have a small, serious suggestion:

📵 Use a device that won’t interrupt you every three minutes.

Notifications, messages, buzzes — they will completely destroy the emotional flow this playlist depends on. The quiet before the explosion, those sudden upward synth slides, the drum drops that tighten your scalp — all of it requires you to brace your body, stand stiff in the sound, in order to catch the hit.

If you can, put your phone aside. Use a device that only plays music. Then let these beats roll right over you.

💬 Finally, I Want to Hear Your “Burn”

If you also have a playlist that keeps you looping till sunrise and makes you want to punch the table every time — don’t keep it to yourself.
