Can I format a SD card as internal storage to expand my Globluum MP3 player?

Yes, it is technically possible, but NOT recommended.
Although Globluum MP3 players support Android’s “Format as Internal Storage” (Adoptable Storage), we strongly recommend using Portable Storage for better performance, safety, and stability.

⚠️ Why You Should NOT Use Internal Storage Mode

1. Performance will decrease

When SD card is used as internal storage:

  • Music loading becomes slower
  • FLAC/WAV playback may stutter
  • Menu navigation may lag
  • Higher heat and CPU usage

👉 Reason: SD cards are much slower than built-in eMMC storage

2. High risk of data loss (encrypted storage)

Once formatted as internal storage:

  • SD card is fully encrypted
  • Locked to one device only
  • Cannot be read by PC or other devices

⚠️ If you reset or replace the device:
👉 Data may be permanently lost

3. Shorter SD card lifespan

Internal storage causes continuous writing:

  • System cache
  • App data
  • Background logs

👉 This increases wear and reduces SD card lifespan

4. Portable storage is the recommended mode

Internal storage: system + apps
SD card: music, videos, audiobooks, photos

Supports:

  • MP3 / FLAC / WAV / APE
  • MP4 / MKV videos
  • Plug & play usage (no encryption)

👉 This is the default and safest option

💡 Recommended SD card setup

  • Max capacity: up to 1TB microSD
  • Speed class: U3 / V30 recommended
  • Format: FAT32 / exFAT

🧠 One-line summary

👉 Do not format SD card as internal storage. Portable storage is the safest and best-performing option for MP3 players.
